How Does The Rain Barrel Program Work?

We’ll only be holding two distribution events this year, one in the town of Hillsborough on December 7 and one in the City of San Carlos on December 14, so choose the location or the date that works best for you! Once you’ve ordered, the location you’ve chosen for pick up is the only date and location where you can pick up your purchase. Your barrel will not be available on the other date or at the other location.

If you can not personally pick up your barrels, you can have a relative, neighbor, or friend pick up the barrel(s) for you, as long as they have your name and sales order number, and they pick up on the date and location on your purchase order.

HOW IT WORKS:

Follow these steps below to secure your barrel(s).

1. Select a location:
December 7th in the Town of Hillsborough.
December 14th in the City of San Carlos.

2. Complete the Agreement Form.

3. Pre-purchase your rain barrel(s) securely online.

4. Pick up your barrel(s) on your selected date at your selected location between 9 am to 12 pm. Pick-up must be in person on your chosen date. If you can not personally pick up your barrel(s), you can have a relative, neighbor, or friend pick up the barrel for you as long as they have your name and sales order number. We do not ship barrels to your address.

Note: Rain barrel sales close on November 23rd for the December 7th pickup day and on November 30th at midnight for the December 14th pickup day, but can close sooner if out of stock.

We also encourage you to apply for the rain barrel rebate after barrel purchase and installation, which can cover up to 100% of the per barrel price (pre-tax) for qualifying applicants! Click here for information on the rain barrel rebate process and installation requirements.

Benefits of Rain Barrels and
The Importance of Action This Year

San Gregorio State Beach, San Mateo County
The time is now for a rain barrel! With our upcoming rainy season right around the corner, you don't want to be caught unprepared.

As you may know, stormwater can transport harmful pollutants from our roofs, properties, and streets into our storm drains and nearby waterways without any cleaning or treatment process. During the winter months, heavy flows of stormwater runoff can transport these pollutants into our local waterways at an alarming rate.

It is more important than ever for our community to implement practices that can help us capture rainwater and prevent stormwater pollution. By installing a rain barrel on your property, you can help protect the water quality of our local creeks, the San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean, conserve precious water for your garden in the spring and summer, and reduce the cost of your water bill!
