San Mateo County History Museum Participates in Redwood City’s Dia de los Muertos

On Sunday, November 3, the San Mateo County History Museum (2200 Broadway in Redwood City) will partner with Casa Círculo Cultural and the Redwood City Parks and Art Foundation during the 13th annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration.

The FREE event within the History Museum will be from 4 – 8 p.m.

Visitors will have the opportunity to make their own thematic crafts, including a calavera (skull).

A community altar exhibition will be displayed in the History Museum’s beautifully restored Courtroom A.

The altars reflect the deep traditions and symbolism of Dia de los Muertos, offering visitors an intimate look into how death is respected and acknowledged as part of life.

The altars will be on display from November 3 – 8.

Admission to the History Museum will be FREE a second time, on Friday, November 8.

The History Museum activities are sponsored by Monterra Credit Union.

Just outside the History Museum, on Courthouse Square, Casa Círculo Cultural will highlight the interplay between life and death. This will be brought to life through live performances, traditional Mexican music and dance, authentic Mexican cuisine, a handmade crafts market, and a grand procession. The Chalk Aisle, managed by Redwood City Parks and Art Foundation, will feature vibrant chalk art expressing artists’ interpretations of life, death and cultural heritage.
